Dance Movement Therapy

Dance Movement Therapy is an experiential and body-based form of psychotherapy that utilizes embodiment, dance and movement as tools for initiating change and bringing holistic healing to our psychological, physical, and emotional selves. All of my coaching and embodiment work is deeply informed by my training as a Dance/Movement Pyschotherapist.

DMT rests on the belief that the body and the mind are not separate but rather intrinsically connected. Given their interdependence, any desired changes in our psychological, cognitive and emotional landscapes rest on us bringing awareness to our bodies and bodily patterns.

Dance Movement Therapy, unlike traditional talk therapy, focuses on physically moving through the challenges we are facing, addressing how they are informed by and affect our body. Through a combination of talking, moving, engaging creativity and resilience, and practicing somatically informed mindfulness, DMT addresses that which ails us in a holistic and wholesome way, bringing from conscious awareness into movement and active change that which has been laying in the unconscious layers of our body-mind-emotion continuum.
